The lights of Lobethal were switched, the cameras rolled and it was all action last Friday (May 2) when TV’s Getaway host Catriona Rowntree and the crew visited Heart of the Hills Market for the first in a series of its Market Kitchen Demonstrations.  

Guest chef HQ Cuisine’s Sean Bradshaw cooked and presented to the TV crew and gathered crowd three superb Adelaide Hills produce-based dishes in the newly set-up Heart of the Hills Market demonstration kitchen.

Above Sean’s enthusiastic instructions and the hissing and clatter of pans, the only other sound that could be heard was an approving “mmmm” as the audience tasted the Spring’s Smoked Salmon and B.-d. Farm Paris Creek Quark herb crepes with HQ Dill Mustard Sauce; the grilled figs with Noske’s smoked bacon and Udder Delights Chevre with HQ Onion Jam; and Autumn Moroccan pumpkin salad with seared Woodside Cheese Wrights fetta, HQ Mud Dressing, Moroccan Spice and Poppyseed Aioli.

After the cooking demonstration and tastings, Heart of the Hills Market owner, Mike Willoughby showed the Getaway Crew around the recently-refurbished Market, which now has a strong food focus with its new Harroughby’s store featuring a huge range of home-made and local products sourced from Adelaide Hills Food producers.

“After 4½ years the market has come of age with over 150,000 visitors each year, we are proud to promote Adelaide Hills excellence.  This delightful destination only 40 minutes from the centre of Adelaide provides an excellent experience”, says Mr Willoughby.

The Getaway crew then went on the visit the rest of the Mill complex and Catriona even purchased a giant dovecote from the Gallery at the Mill as an extra wedding present for her new husband James.

“After the filming was done, the Getaway Crew joined us for a fabulous lunch at Café de Mill in the market before heading off to shoot more footage around the Hills.”

Mr Willoughby says the day was a huge success and plans to hold further Market Kitchen Demonstrations on a regular basis with a variety of guest presenters with packages available for visitors that include lunch.
